Eat Slowly

It takes 15-20 min for your digestive system to let your brain know that you’re satisfied. Slowing down a meal allows that to happen before you overeat.

Stop at “satisfied”, instead of “stuffed.”

When you slow down, you feel content with much less. This means you’ll eat less but enjoy what you’ve eaten more.

Make Your “Other” Meals Fit.

You are well aware (most of the time) of your social meals you have in the calendar, so, if you want to stay on track, you will plan for them. #HardTruth

If you are tracking calories, enter the meal (estimate) that you will pick off the menu, plus the drinks you think you will enjoy FIRST before entering anything else, and work backwards / work your other meals around this occasion.

For example, if I have a social lunch, I’ll google the menu, pick what I will order (over estimate) enter in the foods as best I can, and then work the other meals around it for that day.

That way, at the end of the day you’re still on target.

Movement.

So often, people who want to get (and/or stay) fit will exercise left right and centre for months, only to get to December and fall off the wagon during the silly season.

Gym is less enticing with a hangover right?

1. Never under estimate the power of daily steps, you don’t have to go balls to the walls at the gym if you feel average, simply hit a walk, and just keep moving.

2. If you are doing any form of movement, do this first thing in the morning, not only will it entice you to make better choices for the rest of the day, but I guarantee if you leave movement until the PM, it won’t happen.

Vegetables.

Eat lots and lots of veggies.

Load these onto your plate FIRST, to leave less room for the other stuff.

They’re water-dense, calorie-sparse, and full of the nutrients you need to keep your energy and mood up for holiday party number 20.

One Last Takeaway…

Know that December and probably January won’t be perfect.

YOU probably won’t be perfect.

In fact, I guarantee you won’t be perfect..

THAT’S OKAY!!!

Focus on doing your BEST..

Perfect doesn’t need to exist when it comes to nutrition anyway!

Just remember, you can simply get back on track the next day.
