Structured fitness programming is the foundation of long-term results, not random workouts or short-term intensity spikes. At Combine Air, every training block is deliberately designed, centrally programmed, and constantly evolving to help our All-Stars train smarter, not harder.
We don’t chase trends. We follow proven training principles, layered with the performance advantage of altitude, to help your body adapt faster, get stronger, and perform better. Whether you’re training on the Field of Green or moving through the Pilates Arena, there is intention behind every session.
This is structured periodisation, with a performance edge.
The Why Behind Our 8-Week Training Blocks
Our structured fitness programming follows an 8-week training block model, similar to what elite athletes use to peak, recover, and break through plateaus.
Rather than repeating the same sessions week after week, each block is designed to progress intelligently. Load, volume, intensity, and stimulus are carefully managed so your body continues to adapt instead of stalling.
For Squad Training, each season is broken into four key phases:
- Pre-Season
Lighter loads and higher volume. The focus is on building aerobic capacity, movement quality, and muscular endurance. - Kick Off: Volume remains high, but load begins to increase. This phase bridges conditioning and strength, preparing the body for heavier work.
- In Season: Volume drops and load increases. Strength and power take priority as the body becomes more efficient and resilient.
- Finals: Heavy, sharp, and performance-driven. This is where personal bests happen and training intensity peaks.
This structured approach ensures you are always progressing, never guessing.
How CA Squad Training Sessions Are Programmed
Across the week, structured fitness programming comes to life through seven distinct Squad Training session types. Each session has a specific purpose, stimulus, and performance outcome:
- Super-Sweat: High-volume strength and conditioning. Heavy lifts paired with elevated heart rates.
- Super-Burn: Unilateral and tempo-based movements focused on control and time under tension.
- Meta-Sweat: High-intensity intervals and dynamic functional movements designed to push conditioning.
- Super-Force: Foundational strength training using progressive overload to build serious strength.
- Meta-Pacer: Fast-paced interval work to spike heart rate and develop cardiovascular resilience.
- Max-Air 60: Competitive, team-based training that brings the week together with a strength and conditioning focus.
- High-Charge: Hybrid training with longer work blocks and full-body functional movement.
Early in the season, conditioning sessions prioritise back-to-back efforts and minimal rest to build your engine. As the season progresses, sessions become more strategic, sharpening speed, precision, and work capacity.
At the same time, strength programming evolves. Volume gradually decreases while load increases, guided by scalable methods such as RPE, RIR, and percentages of one-rep max. This ensures every All-Star trains at the right intensity for their ability level.
How CA Pilates Sessions Are Programmed
CA Pilates follows the same philosophy, even though it doesn’t mirror the exact Squad Training phases.
Reformer Pilates at altitude is programmed in progressive 8-week blocks where complexity, resistance, tempo, and breath control build week by week. These are science-backed sessions designed for real strength, mobility, and control.
Across the week, Pilates programming includes:
- Super-Tone: High-volume, full-body work using heavy springs and supersets.
- Super-Strong: Strength-focused sessions with heavier resistance and slower tempo.
- Total-Sculpt: A blend of strength and conditioning to build endurance and muscular tone.
- Meta-Tempo: Fast, powerful, cardio-driven sessions focused on speed and agility.
- Total-Flow: Fluid, connected movement sequences to restore balance and mobility.
- Total-Control: Fundamentals-focused sessions for posture, core strength, and control.
- Athletica-60: A 60-minute hybrid combining strength, control, and conditioning.
By week eight, you’re moving with more confidence, more power, and greater capability at 3,500 metres.
Why Structured Fitness Programming Works Better at Altitude
Altitude training increases the effectiveness of every session by creating a stronger physiological stimulus. When combined with expert programming, results accelerate.
Key elements include:
-
Progressive overload to prevent plateaus
-
Low-oxygen training to boost endurance and EPOC
-
Centrally programmed cycles for consistency and measurable outcomes
-
Varied session types to keep both body and mind adapting
You won’t just feel fitter. You’ll become stronger, more conditioned, and better recovered.
Whether your goal is performance, longevity, or body composition, Combine Air’s structured fitness programming provides the blueprint.
